Paddle NSW is delighted to announce the 2021 calendar of Sprint, Marathon, Harbour Racing and Ultra Series. Each of these series provides paddlers with the opportunity to challenge themselves and develop their skills within a fun and supportive environment. No matter whether you’re new to the paddlesport or an experienced racer, be part of a unique Paddle NSW community and explore the state’s fabulous waterways.
2021 Sprint Series
First out of the blocks in the New Year is sprint competition, with NSW State Sprint Championships scheduled for the 16th and 17th of January followed by national events in February and March. From August to November, four Sprint Series races at SIRC, Avoca and Narrabeen offer a fun an inclusive environment for beginners and seasoned sprinters alike to try their hand at the discipline in single and team boats. Distances include 200, 500 and 1,000m with the shorter races allowing for heats and finals on the one day.

2021 Harbour Series
See the NSW coastline at its finest in the 2021 Harbour Series, with four races from March through to July. The series allows paddlers to develop and hone their open water skills in a lower-risk racing environment before tackling the more technical offshore waters. Ocean Racing and SLSA ‘Spec’ Skis, Outriggers, SUP’s and Sea Kayaks are all welcome with short and long-course options that cater to paddlers of all ability levels. Juniors and Mixed Double skis have become popular classes in recent years.

2021 Marathon Series
The 2021 Marathon Series offers paddlers ten races on waterways around the state from February through to August. Distances of 20, 15, 10 and 5kms are on offer, giving paddlers of every ability the opportunity to develop their skills over distance. Time-based divisions ensure paddlers are racing within those of a similar standard, and those with an eye to racing across the year are guaranteed an exciting competition for series placings. Two bonus rounds offer varied distances, with a standard number of points credited back to the series point score.

2021 Ultra Series
Following the conclusion of the Marathon Series, the 2021 Ultra Series challenges paddlers to go further than the traditional marathon distance. From 30 and 47kms in the Wyong and Myall Classic races, step up to a multi-day challenge in the Clarence 100 and twilight racing experiences in the Hawkesbury Classic, Morison 50 and Burley Griffin 24hr Paddle Challenge. This series takes in some of the state’s most stunning waterways and the camaraderie to undertake a superhuman paddling effort!
