Big River Canoe Club Update

The 2020 summer season has well and truly kicked off in NNSW with BRCC hosting several events so far. Weekly flatwater paddling sessions have been staged from our new boat storage area on the banks of the picturesque Clarence River in Grafton. Whitewater activities have generally been focussed on the Mann River which as proven to be the perfect place for teaching beginners and for slalom and Wildwater training. It has been very encouraging to see so many new kids with supportive parents participate this year which shows the sport has a bright future in the region.

BRCC also hosted a slalom competition in November with NNSW’s most talented junior paddler Declan Ellis recording the fastest K1, C1 and C2 times and Ally Cork recording the fastest womens K1 and C1 times.

After several years of drought, club members are super excited to see so much rain falling in December. This early-season rain has potential to set the local paddlers up for a great summer of water levels and paddling opportunities.
