After years of drought it is refreshing to see much beautiful water in the NNSW rivers! BRCC members have been making the most of it with 75 paddlers taking part in the Whitewater Weekend held in February. The boaters ranged from total newbies to our regular recreational paddlers and slalom crew. It was also great to see so many new faces including a big crew of primary school-age kids. Thanks to all of the legendary instructors and volunteers who helped make the weekend such a success.
Next up for whitewater events are the NNSW CHS Regional and State Canoeing Championships supported by BRCC. Any parents of school age kids keen to be involved should get in touch. These events are open to school paddlers of all abilities and are a great social event too.
BRCC is also proud to be running a program called ‘Men Against Depression (MAD) Paddlers’, to help men in the Clarence Valley experience the physical and mental benefits of becoming more active and socially connected. We’ll keep you posted on how the course goes in the next newsletter.
