Thanks & Farewell: PNSW Announces People Changes

There has been some recent movement on our Board with Karen Forbes and Bron Powell standing down for work and personal reasons.

Karen served two separate periods on the Board, having been initially elected in 2016. Always the voice of reason, Karen has always been strong in workplace fairness and member protection issues.

Bron was a Board Director for almost three and a half years. Her passion has been environment issues and gender equality and awareness. Bron instigated the PNSW Environment Committee in 2020 (the first of its kind amongst any state or indeed PA) and continues as Committee Chair.

As two Board Directors say farewell, we are delighted to announce Joy Robinson has been appointed to fill one of those casual Elected Director vacancies. Joy is Secretary of MWKC and has been involved in kayaking for over 15 years including six Hawkesbury Classic completions. Welcome Joy.

We also acknowledge with gratitude another volunteer who stood down last month. Naomi Johnson has been our webmaster for a couple of years, taking over from Anjie Lees as well as a past Board member. Both did a wonderful job within the parameters of a national website platform. Naomi’s creativity and thoroughness will be missed. Laura White has accepted the interim webmaster role until a suitable replacement is found.

PaddleNSW is seeking to fill the remaining casual Elected Director vacancy position on the Board. For more information about the role of the Board and to submit nominations, please contact PaddleNSW CEO, Peter Tate

The Board and CEO wish to take this opportunity to publicly thank our outgoing Volunteer Board Members & Webmaster and to extend our thanks to all our volunteers at state and club level who keep our sport paddling.

Peter Tate – PNSW CEO
