Dylan Littlehales named to the 2020+1 Paralympic Team

Paracanoeist Dylan Littlehales sprinting in Australian team singlet

It’s been a long wait for Australia’s paracanoeists to be officially named to the Australian team.

They undertook qualification at the 2020 National Sprint Championships, held prior to any lockdowns occuring in Australia. Unlike their Olympic compatriot’s their selection was not ratified by Paralympics Australia and they had to requalify again in 2021.

During a week of persistent rain in Penrith, when the 2021 Nationals where originally scheduled in March, our para athletes from across Australia again raced for their selection with four athletes gaining selection: AJ Jennings (KL3), Susuan Seipel (KL2 & VL2), Curt McGrath (KL2 & VL3) and Dylan Littlehales (KL3).

Dylan hails from Avoca Kayak Club and began paracanoe at 14, after it had been announced as a new Paralympic Sport, where it made it’s debut at Rio. Dylan made his Paddle Australia Team debut at 15 in 2015 and has since gone from strength to strength.

As a young 17 year old, Dylan made the 2016 Paralympic Team and overall placed 15th (K1 200) KL3..

The Tokyo paracanoe events will take place on September 3-4. Lock it in your diaries
