COVID Event Updates: Myall Classic Postponed and Wyong Ultra Cancelled

PaddleNSW wishes to advise that the iconic Myall Classic has been postponed.

Due to concern by the State Government relating to the potential community spread of COVID-19, the organisation received advice from NSW Health to avoid large inter-regional events in the next six weeks. Accordingly, PaddleNSW has determined that it would be irresponsible to proceed with the Myall Classic on the scheduled 19th September date. Dependent on further advice from NSW Health, the event may be rescheduled later in the year.

The PNSW Wyong Ultra, scheduled for 30th August, has been cancelled. ALL entrants will receive a full refund within the next week.

Central Coast Paddlers will instead conduct a 30km club race on Sunday 30th August and any local paddlers wanting to paddle need to email their registration of interest to centralcoastpaddlers@gmail.com before Thursday 27th August. The club event, in accordance with NSW Health and Office of Sport guidelines, is open to local paddlers only.

PaddleNSW CEO Peter Tate said the health of the wider community must come first in 2020. “For now, we are fortunate that regular club-level competition and activity continues and we thank the paddling community for their ongoing commitment to the health and safety protocols under which those activities are conducted.”
